      What is a W-9 form and how do I fill it out?

      Legacy Global supports our nation's charitable initiatives starting right here at home. This form is essential to that process.

      Legacy Global has many clients that recommend recipients or vendors based in the United States to provide services or receive grants. In order to maintain transparency with the IRS, we may require an individual or business residing in the United States to fill out the W-9 form. 

      The W-9 form is used by the IRS to collect tax information for the individual or business residing in the United States. There are only three parts required to fill out on this form.

      Part One

      There are two different ways one may fill out this form, as an individual or as a business.

      As an individual, the legal name of the person, confirmation of being an individual/sole proprietor, and full address including city, state and zip code is required.

      As a business, it is recommended that the president or owner of the business is the person verifying the W-9 form. The name of the owner, the legal name of your business, and full address including city, state and zip code are required.

      Part Two

      The TIN or Taxpayer Identification Number is required to maintain compliance with the IRS. In most cases, individuals normally list the social security number and businesses list their Employer Identification Number (EIN). Only one of these numbers are required on the W-9 form.

      Part Three

      Signing this form signifies that all the information is true, correct and complete. Once this certification has been completed, the form is ready for submission!
